Negotiating your new salary and benefits. When you’re used to the peanuts of museum pay it can be hard to know what you’re worth or what kind of benefits you can expect (health insurance? never heard of her!). Individuals who negotiate their starting salary earn on average $5,000 more per year (that’s a lot of museum gift shop swag).
